Going to Paiha on saturday

WALT to make our writing more interesting for our readers.

Going to Paihia on Saturday

On Saturday afternoon I went to Paihia with my family. First we drove to JimmyJacks for a family night. My dad was in Hamilton and my Mum decided our family needed a treat because we worked hard. We always do heaps of things around the farm and at the house. At Jimmy Jacks we got pork ribs and onion rings. Next my sisters were doing tik toks and taking pictures of my older sister in the lights. Our dinner was delicious. The ribs had this sauce on them and they were cooked just right. After dinner we went to the gas station and got some ice cream. Then we drove back to Tautoro and went home. Finally we went to bed. I felt happy because that was a fantastic dinner with my family.

Planting my seedling.

We were learning about how to make the plant get food from the sun light.

I found it easy to plant my seedling and to put my stick in the dirt. The stick is so you know who's it is.

I found it hard to be carefull with my plant.

I really enjoyed everything especially when I planted it because I was excited.

Next time I need to not put too much water on the plant.

Recount writing-going to Paihia

WALT make our writing more interesting for our readers.

Going to Paihia

On Monday morning me, Mrs Nathan, Hamish, Petuere and Rico travelled to Paihia.

First when we got there we had an ice cream and then we drove to the Wharf. We did some bombs off the wharf and then we drove to the Park and played tag. Next we walked down to the beach and ran into the waves. They were gigantic as. When I came out of the water, a wave pushed me and I was rolling around in the water. The wave pushed me back to shore. It was scary as.

After that we had a Caramel Slice and an ice block. It was delicious. Then we went back to Kaikohe to Mrs Nathan’s house. We got changed and drove to the park and had a little play for about 15 minutes. That was cool.

Next we got some fish and chips and we drove home.

It was a fantastic day.

Letter to mum and dad about sound.

WALT talk about what we are learning.

I wanted to share with my family what I was learning about sound

To Mum and Dad from Hiku

I am going to tell you what I have learnt about sound.

The first thing I learnt was that sound is made by vibrations.

If you get a can and a string and put the string on the top of the can the string will vibrate on the can and it will make a sound.

Another fact we learnt is that there is no sound in space.

There is no air and water in space. Sound needs air particles to carry the sound to other particles and then they go into your ear. So that’s why there is no sound in space.

Also we learnt that sound can move objects

like rice and hundreds and thousands. It can make water splash and it can make a ping pong ball jump.

Facts about sound

WALT find information from the text to answer questions.

Read the text and find the information to answer these questions.

What is sound?

Sound is energy. Sound is power.

How is sound made?

Sound is made by when something vibrates and moves air particles to make sound waves.

How does sound travel?

Sound travels when something vibrates and air particles hit the other particles and makes sound waves that take the sound to your ear.

How do we hear sounds?

When the particles vibrates then it passes the vibrations on to the other particles and the sound wave goes into your ear and goes into your three bones and it goes into your cochlea and then it sends a message to your brain.

Why can’t sound be heard in space?

Because there is no air in space. Sound needs to travel in air.

Recount writing the flood

Walt: to make our writing more interesting for our readers.

The  flood
On Friday I was at home with my family. It was a stormy day. The rain was pouring down. It rained so hard that the paddocks started to fill up with water. There was water everywhere. In the afternoon me and my dad and my brothers were in the shed cutting wood and suddenly water came rushing into the shed. The water made big puddles in the shed. I was using a rope to swing and then I jumped into the puddles. We were all amazed at how fast the paddocks were getting full of water. It was scary!First we picked up some stuff to try and block the water. But that didn’t work. My dad was worried that the flood had come into all the sheds. Me and my brothers were getting excited because it was like having a river right by our house. We asked dad if we could have a swim. He said yes. So we played tag by splashing each other with water. Then we played rugby. We were running and sliding in the water. Next we did some manus in the gushing, crashing rain. The water splashed up into our mouths and it tasted like dirt. There were tuna guts floating in the water; it really smelt like rotten fish. I was disgusted because the tuna guts were yuck as.After that we went inside.I felt scared because there was ice coming from the sky. Finally I was staring out the window with my brothers looking at the gushing, rushing rain. We were amazed because the rain was so fast and powerful.
